Enchanted Creations NZ began around Christmas 2018; as a market stall at the Creative Raglan market and even a street stall in the Hamilton East Village market (2018-2019). The idea came from Ruth Merriman, an artist and an early childhood teacher like Rebecca. She recognised that creating things was a kind of therapy for both teacher friends. But realised they needed to do something with the extra items they were making, so she thought of the market stall. September 2021, Ruth moves to Tauranga, and Rebecca sets up an online store.
Rebecca says: All creations for children are focused on education, as my whole career has been about teaching. I believe in educating holistically, not just focusing on the academic. You will see things like how my dolls have no faces - these are "Emotion dolls" and are this way so facial expressions can be imagined. Story and song bags encourage different forms of literacy and numeracy and sell out fast when I have them. I also make resources to support the learning of te reo Māori. I believe effective language learning resources utilise a connection between the physical and the cognitive to encourage and aid memory retention. For example, information on stones with various weights, sizes and colours.
Not everything will be on the page yet, as it is still being uploaded, so please email me at enchantedcreationsnz@Gmail.com, if you have any questions - Rebecca Revell.
